Deep into his ultimate mid-life crisis old ‘has been’ athlete, Aaron Davis takes on the ultimate endurance test – Race Across America.
In June this year, a local old-school athlete Aaron Davis is, embarking on one of the World’s toughest challenges to race across America with three of his good friends. With his body just holding together and despite facing numerous physical challenges, including dodgy knees, a stiff back and a niggling right hip, Davis is determined to prove that his body can still handle the physical demands of the race.
Inspired by cycling guru Craig Harper, Davis is thrilled to announce that Harper will be joining him on the adventure, bringing his extensive experience and expertise to the table. “I am excited and honoured to embark on this journey with Craig by my side,” says Davis.
“This race is about much more than just physical endurance. It’s about pushing boundaries, overcoming obstacles, and giving back to a community that has supported our family for generations. I hope to inspire others to pursue their dreams when your mind wants a beer and your body wants a spa”.
Davis quoted, “Even when you are way past your best and the dadbod is weighing you down, Craig has a large stick and will get us over the line”.
One of the charities that Team NZBLUE will be riding for is the Inspire Foundation – led by Mark Davis, Aaron’s brother, who is dedicated to improving the lives of others.
The Inspire Foundation’s key role is to recognise, reward and assist extraordinary young people to achieve excellence in their chosen field and to develop leadership skills that will benefit the community in which they live.
The passion behind the inspiration is to encourage kids to give back to the communities that support them by inspiring others, being courageous, doing the right thing, putting people first and celebrating life. The inspiring kids are our future leaders and the ones that show other young people what’s possible.
Both Davis and Harper look forward to the challenges and experiences that lie ahead and are truly thankful for all the support the team has received. Social Guy (Mark Shaw) has also kindly sponsored Aaron’s team and will post the highs and lows that come with the expedition.
